James Marshall was not the only member of his family to emigrate to Victoria. His brothers Hugh Whiteford Marshall, William Kirkwood Marshall and youngest sibling Adam Cook Marshall also left Scotland to make their lives in Australia.
William Kirkwood Marshall emigrated with his second wife, Bertha Anna Fox Marshall, whom he had married in 1903 after the death of his first wife Jessie Orr Ramsay Marshall in 1901.
William had married Jessie Ramsay, the daughter of spirits salesman David Ramsay and his wife Jessie Orr, on June 16, 1893, at The Manse, Kilbirnie, Ayrshire. Jessie Orr Marshall died on August 19, 1901,in Glasgow, aged only 29 years, having suffered for 14 days with basal meningitis.
William's marriage to Bertha Fox took place on June 18, 1903, in Glasgow. William was a 31 year old coal merchant, and Bertha a 20 year old domestic servant.
Bertha had been born on October 27, 1882, in Edinburgh, the daughter of flesher journeyman (butcher) John Henry Fox and his wife Maria Hannah Russell.

- Both notices appeared on September 24, 1951.

Brother Hugh Whiteford Marshall was born in Kilbirnie in 1869, and was named after his father. In 1892 he married Joan Niven in Ayr, and in the 1901 census they were living at Kilbirnie with their 4 year old son Hugh Whiteford Marshall. Hugh Senior was a 32 year old butcher, and his wife Joan was aged 27.
The family emigrated to Victoria at some time in the early 1900s, and along with the family of Hugh's brother Adam, they settled in the Melbourne suburb of Coburg. Hugh continued to be a butcher all of his life, and Adam worked as a wood machinist.
Adam Marshall had married Agnes Orr Monaghan in Scotland on February 3, 1899. Their family consisted of:

Adam Cook Marshall died in 1960, aged 82 years. He outlived his three brothers who emigrated to Australia- James who died in 1926; Hugh in 1941 and William in 1951. Between the four brothers, the Kilbirnie Marshall bloodline has certainly continued to grow and prosper on Australian soil, with many Marshall descendants spread throughout Victoria and other states.
